LCLIPs and Action Plans
Local authorities and their partners have been gathering data on the extreme weather events that have occured in their areas and are assessing the associated risks to develop action plans to help adapt to the future climate.
With the assistance of funding from YoHr Space, the Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership, sub-regional groups of local authorities have developed a suite of reports and actions plan which can be downloaded from this site.

West Yorkshire Adaptation Plan
The main purpose of this RIEP funded project was to develop and implement a West Yorkshire collaborative approach to climate change adaptation action planning. The West Yorkshire adaptation plan will support all five West Yorkshire local authorities to achieve level 3 of National Indicator 188 – planning to adapt to climate change.

RIEP Climate Change Adaptation Project – Phase 2B
The Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (RIEP) provided funding for Yorkshire and the Humber to carry out work into climate change adaptation. In 2010, an LCLIP (Local Climate Impacts Profile) was completed for all of the Local Authorities in the North Yorkshire region. Phase 1 of this Climate Change Adaptation project involved a comprehensive risk assessment of adaptation being completed. This project completes phase 2 of the project and the reports can be viewed below.

Scarborough BC, Comprehensive Climate Risk Assessment
Amongst North Yorkshire Councils, Scarborough Borough faces some unique challenges from climate change as it faces the issue of sea level rise and coastal erosion. This also makes it more prone than many areas to any increased level of storms. Much of the Borough has a high elevation making it more at risk from the continued impacts of severe winters which are currently still a risk.
Selby DC, Comprehensive Climate Risk Assessment
The key weather related hazard to Selby District is flood risk and plans and policies are in place across the Council to deal with this. However, this risk needs to be considered against future increasing risk due to climate change. Any further information that quantifies this risk geographically can be built into future plans and polices.
