Local authorities in Yorkshire & Humber collectively spend £120m per year on energy procurement. With rising fuel costs and unprecedented budget pressures this workshop will help authorities to share and identify good practice, develop networks between the different professional networks involved in procuring, managing and reducing energy use and begin to develop a roadmap to reduce regional spend on energy.

The IPCC has today published its latest report 'Climate Change 2014: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability' as part of the suite of products for the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5).

The IPCC aims to provide the world with a clear scientific view on the current state of knowledge in climate change and its potential environmental and socio-economic impacts.

EU 2020 Going Local

Solar Power Feed-in Tariffs

A joint report on the solar power feed-in tariffs has been published by the Energy and Climate Change and Environment Audit Select Committees. The report criticises the Government’s handling of the proposed changes to FiTs, which it says could have a fatal impact on the solar industry. Tim Yeo MP, Chair of the Energy and Climate Change Committee, said "There is no question that solar subsidies needed to be urgently reduced, but the Government has handled this clumsily.”

Independent Panel on Forestry Progress Report

On 8 December 2011 the Independent Panel on Forestry published its progress report. The report says the Panel are working towards recommendations that will increase the benefits generated from all forests in England – to the people that enjoy them, to nature and to the businesses that rely on them. Of the woods which are not in the public estate, 80%, only about half of them are managed. The Panel wants to see more woods created and more woods managed.
