Local Government Minister Grant Shapps has announced proposals for the new arrangements for local public audit that will replace the Audit Commission's inspection regime. Under the new framework local public bodies will be able to appoint their own independent auditors from an open and competitive market.

New website helps Yorkshire businesses to cut costs and CO2 emissions

A new website has been launched this week that will help businesses to cut their costs and their carbon emissions. The Greener Business Website brings together information for businesses about making changes that will help them make significant savings by being more environmentally aware. Each of the region’s 22 local authorities have their own version of the website that can be accessed through their main websites, giving businesses information specific to their area.

ETAP 10th European Forum on Eco-Innovation

The 10th ETAP Forum on Eco-Innovation will bring together key players in business, academia, finance, policy and green groups. It will present business case studies on sustainable material management, encourage innovation through cross fertilisation between disciplines and sectors, identify and prioritise the key issues that need to be addressed by Government and EU action. The Forum will propose priority areas for future action on material security and resource efficiency and play a key part in securing research through Research Councils and EU calls.
