How can highway authorities assess the impact climate risks will have on their strategic road networks? How do they develop strategies to help adapt and manage those risks?
With increasing pressure on local transport budgets and in the face of changing weather and climate, Climate Local is running a web conference event on Wednesday 22nd April (12-1pm) to showcase an innovative new tool to achieve a resilient highways network.
The session will be led by members of the HIRAM (Highways Infrastructure Resilience Assessment modelling tool), developed in the South West. It will provide an introduction to the HIRAM tool, which is an online toolkit designed to identify what the current climate risks are, how they will impact on the economy, and how to reduce the risk and achieve resilience.
HIRAM has been developed in collaboration between the South West Highways Alliance, Climate SouthWest, the Environment Agency’s Climate Ready Programme, the Met Office and Wilson, Pym and May.
