Infrastructure providers across Yorkshire and Humber came together for the inaugural meeting of the Climate Adaptation Infrastructure Forum on 2 December to consider opportunities for joint working on making our region more resilient to our changing climate.
Yorkshire Water hosted the event at their Buttershaw office complex in Bradford where they illustrated the company's experience and future plans for managing adaptation to climate change. Attendees also learned about support on offer from the Environment Agency's Climate Ready service and how to prepare for the next round of the Adaptation Reporting Power.
The group has been established by Your Climate and aims to:
- Build a partnership to promote the understanding of interdependencies between critical infrastructure across Yorkshire and the Humber
- Map opportunities to make the economic case and better coordinate investment programmes between infrastructure providers
- To facilitate knowledge exchange on standards, data, planning and implementation of adaptation measures
- Disseminate relevant policy news with regard to climate change adaptation and the infrastructure sector
- To share good practice and learning on compliance with the Adaptation Reporting Power
Looking ahead, the next steps are to drill down and map infrastructure at a local level and identify opportunities for pilot projects to increase resilience. For more information please contact the partnership at yourclimate@lgyh.gov.uk .
