Sheffield – The Decentralised Energy City

This paper sets out Sheffield’s ambition to be the UK’s first decentralised energy city. The proposition set out here is led by the City Council in partnership with E.ON, bringing together a strong public/private partnership approach. As a City, through our Carbon Reduction Framework [2], adopted by Council and the Sheffield First Partnership in June 2009 we have steadfastly committed ourselves to long term carbon reduction targets in line with overarching UK’s Governmental targets enshrined legally in The Climate Act 2008. [3]
