The latest economic, social and environmental data for the sub and city regions are now available on the Yorkshire Futures website.
Since last year the policy and funding landscape for economic development has changed radically. Their focus has shifted to locally-driven growth, and Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs), locally-owned partnerships of local authorities and businesses, have been announced to replace some of the functions of the outgoing Regional Development Agencies.
In Yorkshire and Humber, the Leeds and Sheffield City Regions and the York and North Yorkshire sub-region all have LEPs. In the Hull and Humber Ports City Region the businesses are reported to be interested in setting up a Humber wide LEP, covering both the North Bank and the South Bank of the Humber estuary. Reflecting the new focus of sub-national economic development, this year our monitoring and reporting activity has focused on these four functional economic areas.
Alongside this suite of four reports, a wide range of high level economic, social and environmental indicators are monitored and can be viewed on interactive maps through Yorkshire Futures Progress Live . Indicators have been updated throughout 2010 and into 2011, and can be viewed for individual local authorities and Yorkshire and Humber as a whole.
The sub and city regional research coordinators from the city regions of Sheffield, Leeds and Hull and Humber Ports as well as the sub region of North Yorkshire have produced snapshot information for 15 joint indicators. The summaries provide latest data on indicators covering topics such as population, economy, skills and environment. To present the data in context, regional and national data are also provided.
